Reaserching Of Elastic modulus of Copper - Nickel Foil
The biaxial elastic modulus was measured by bulge testing on CuNi thin foils containing shortwavelength composition modulations produced by vapor deposition. In the wavelength range of 1.3–3.0 nm, we observed a twofold increase in the modulus as compared with homogeneous foils. The increase was proportional to the square of the composition amplitude. The maximum modulus occurred at a wavelength of 1.7 nm and an average composition of 45 at. % Cu.
The stressstrain curves of the modulated foils were reversible but nonHookean, while homogeneous foils displayed a Hookean behavior with moduli in good agreement with those calculated from the singlcrystal elastic constants of bulk CuNi alloys.
Standard Copepr Nlckel alloy with the following properties:
Low temperature coefficient of electrical resistance
High resistance to oxidation and corrosion
High strength with regard to breakage and bending cycles
The alloy is non-magnetic and the maximum temperature for use in air is 600°C. The material is easy to work with and can be soldered or brazed with no problems. All known welding processes can be used.
